Why should I assume that this is what'll happen with the Kingsmen in this setting?Part of a collection of mods that overhaul major aspects of the game, A Better ADVENT (ABA) is a mod primarily concerned with adding an extra challenge to the game by introducing increased enemy variety as well as improved AI and improved enemy types. No, which is why I don't know why posting a lossless Ironman playthrough is any better than posting one with several losses. Those are restrictions that will only hinder them when facing ADVENT. All you've suggested is that an individual Kingsmen agent is more highly trained than an X-COM operative, which is almost certainly true at the outset of the game, but not how they'll overcome the 4 month obstacle when training new recruits, or the idiotic tradition of only having 12 agents at a time. except now they are much easier to catch.Īnd if we went with statements like "Well the Kingsmen are spies, so of course they'll do better than soldiers at espionage!" then the inverse is true, and the Kingsmen will do worse in missions where they had to have straight firefights with ADVENT, such as retaliation missions where ADVENT troops were decimating entire towns. But if all of the Kingsmen organization, an entire R&D research division, is placed into X-COM's place they might do better in that regards. Is the Kingsmen organization sent into the X-COM 2 setting, or just Merlin and the operatives? Because even if we make Merlin an engineer (in which case, it's not even the Merlin character from the movie, which only shows how screwed the Kingsmen would be) he's still behind on 20 years of ADVENT technology and would have a hell of a hard time catching up. He was used as at LEAST one plugged in battlefield commander who underwent thousands of different battle scenarios. It can also be argued that the Great Commandy One is the deciding factor that tips the war in XCOM 2 single-handedly. In this scenario he has even MORE incentives to work together with the Elders/Ethereals. which is REALLY, REALLY detrimental for a war against the Ethereals.Īnd finally there is the issue that Chester King/Arthur was easily swayed to work together with Valentine. This goes doubly because they are elitists, who favour a certain pedigree over raw skills.įurthermore, there is the compounding factor that their training is rather shit and at least borderline evil, with dropout rates approaching easily 90 % or more. The Kingsman probably won't have that going for them, especially because a good chunk of them would dismiss the "commoners" and their efforts. They prefer to stay in the shadows, while XCOM had to work with the Resistance and had at least their good will on their side. There is also the issue that they lack the ungodly R&D department of XCOM.įurthermore, I'd be pretty surprised if they would go for psionic abilities.įinally there is also the notion that they aren't all that trustworthy. The same can't be said for the Kingsman, when it comes down to durability. complete with eating plasma shots to the face. The Veterans are straight outta 80's action movies. the runts of the litter are already better than most soldiers can EVER hope to be. Hell, even the Great Commandy One can't ward off bad luck.īTW, XCOM rookies. The Kingsman would be horribly hampered in their ability to actually act for Earth's good when even ONE of them gets injured or worse is killed. and mere pistols and grenades aren't going to cut it against them.Īnd the Avatars are humans double plus, that would slice through the Kingsman as if they aren't there. Sectopods would utterly annihalate them with ease. Vipers are going to bind them from places they thought safe.Īrchons are going to shred them with their AoE abilities.Ĭodex are enemies that have more bullshit hax abilities at their disposal than you can shake a stick at. and I don't see how the Kingsman doing better than those.

Hell, even the most decorated XCOM soldiers have trouble shaking that off.

which the Pectoids bring to bear and will use with devastating effect. There is also something far more dangerous working against them.

Their equipment won't help them one bit in those situations. The issue is that they face enemies who CAN and WILL one shot them if given the opportunity. The Kingsman are field agents, NOT soldiers.
